Paul Arises set up Arises Ltd. Paul had previously worked in animal by-products and has now progressed into used cooking oils and fats.
After completing his A-Levels, Robert Arises joined his father's company. The company was still processing animal by-products, but the used cooking oil side of the business continued to grow at a more accelerated rate.
The business had grown and with turnover up by 500%, the company had out grown its existing premises in Hull and the decision to look for larger premises was taken.
The business left its central Hull site and moved to its current 10 acre site in North Cave, which was a former aluminium smelting works.
Through mutual agreement, Robert left the family business to pursue different interests and to gain more experience in different fields. One of his roles was selling protein into the food sector, where he gained a new insight into the food manufacturing sector.
After a couple of years of difficult trading and with Robert having achieved some of his goals, the decision was made for him to re-join the business. Turnover was down and the company was employing 15 people at this time. Robert bought into the company purchasing 37.5% of the company shares.
The company was going from strength to strength and turnover and profits were up. A new relationship had formed and Arises started to sell biodiesel.
Rob became a 50/ 50 shareholder with his father. The business began to grow further and had a turn over of £11m and employed 44 people.
Greenergy asked Robert to help them resolve some issues they had at their factory in Immingham, North Lincolnshire. Robert was appointed Managing Director of Greenergy Biofuels (Immingham) Limited.
First joint venture with Greenergy Biofuels Limited undertaken (North Cave Limited) and the business begins to really see the benefits of all its previous efforts.
The Feed side split out of the main business and new company formed called Adams & Green Limited owned on a 50/50 basis between Robert and his father. This company trades from its own site in Hull.
New office and Laboratory complex was commissioned and completed to help house the expanding team and improve the overall working environment.
